Pamela Manson (30 September 1928–19 March 1988) was a British actress who in her 30-year career on film, television and stage is best known for playing comedy roles. She was also a political activist who was a member of the International Committee for Artists' Freedom for Equity and a member of the National Campaign for the Repeal of the Obscene Publications Acts.〔 ==Early years== Born as Pamela J. Cowan, and originally from Leeds, before turning to an acting career she worked as a secretary on the ''News Chronicle'' and at one time also worked as a public relations officer in the fashion industry and managed theatrical artists for a period.〔Richard Webber, Jimmy Perry and David Croft, ''The Complete A-Z of Dad's Army'' - Orion Media (2000) pg 136 ISBN 0-75281-838-4〕 In 1949 at Kensington she married Louis Manson,〔(Pamela J. The marriage was later dissolved.
